Atlanta Dream scramble for WNBA finals venue after State Farm Arena unavailable

The Atlanta Dream must find an alternative site for their WNBA finals home games after State Farm Arena is booked on all three scheduled dates. The team’s usual facility seats just 3,500, raising concerns about capacity for their first finals appearance since 2013 against the Golden State Valkyries.

The Atlanta Dream are urgently seeking a venue to host their upcoming WNBA finals home games after scheduling conflicts left State Farm Arena in downtown Atlanta unavailable for all three dates. The Dream are due to host Games 3 and 4 of the best-of-seven series on Oct. 22 and Oct. 24, with Game 6 pencilled in for Oct. 29 if required.

State Farm Arena, the 17,044-seat arena that is home to the NBA’s Atlanta Hawks, was the obvious option but is booked on each of the dates the Dream need. The team’s regular facility, which holds about 3,500 spectators, is considerably smaller than State Farm and would significantly limit attendance for a championship series that marks Atlanta’s first WNBA finals appearance since 2013.

Venue capacity and availability will be central considerations as the Dream evaluate alternatives, with implications for ticketing, revenue and broadcast logistics. The team will also need to move quickly to secure a site that meets league standards and can be prepared in time for the back-to-back schedule during the midweek portion of the finals.

The Dream will face the Golden State Valkyries in the finals. With home-court dates fixed by the league to be played on the Oct. 22–24–29 slate if the series extends, the lack of access to State Farm Arena puts pressure on the club and local officials to find a suitable replacement venue or resolve scheduling conflicts on short notice.

The team and the WNBA have not publicly announced an alternative site as they continue discussions. Fans, season-ticket holders and prospective single-game buyers are likely to watch for updates from the club about ticketing and venue arrangements as the series approaches.
