Her post came after a recent interview given by her husband and bandmate, drummer Stephen Morris, which had prompted concern among fans and media.
In an interview with Rolling Stone earlier this month, Morris had said: "I've got a bit of a health problem at the minute, which precludes leaving the country for any length of time … it's pretty serious." That comment led to questions about the nature of the health issue and the implications for the group's activities.
Gilbert used her Instagram announcement to clarify her own condition and to respond to the attention generated by Morris's remarks. She identified herself as undergoing further cancer treatment and characterised her situation as "living with cancer," signalling ongoing management rather than a return to full health.
Neither Gilbert nor Morris provided additional medical details in the public statements. The pair have long been members of New Order, and Gilbert's confirmation addressed immediate concerns about her wellbeing following the earlier interview.
