Green Bay quarterback Jordan Love threw three touchdown passes and the Packers held off the Carolina Panthers 27-19 on Thursday night, improving Green Bay’s record to 5-3.
Love completed 30 of 41 passes for 288 yards, connecting with Tucker Kraft, Matthew Golden and Josh Jacobs for touchdowns while also throwing one interception. Running back Josh Jacobs reached the end zone twice, scoring on a four-yard reception and a one-yard run, despite being limited on the ground.
Although Jacobs carried 21 times, he managed just 39 rushing yards against a Carolina run defence that entered the game ranked last in the NFL. The Packers also overcame three turnovers to secure the win.
Wide receiver Christian Watson left the game for a mid-game hospital visit but returned to the field and finished with 113 receiving yards, playing through an injury. Watson’s return provided a key lift for Green Bay’s offence in the second half.
The Panthers fell short in a game where they were unable to contain Green Bay’s passing attack, while the Packers relied on a mix of aerial scoring and short-yardage punches to prevail. The result gives Green Bay momentum as the season approaches the midpoint.
