Reform MSP quits party to sit as independent

Amanda Bland has left the Reform group in the Scottish Parliament and will sit as an independent MSP, a move that reduces Reform to the third-largest group at Holyrood and leaves it one member behind Labour.

Amanda Bland has resigned from the Reform party and will take her seat at the Scottish Parliament as an independent member, officials confirmed.

Her departure reduces Reform's strength at Holyrood and means the party is now the third-largest group in the parliament, with one fewer member than the Scottish Labour Party.

The change alters the balance of party representation within the chamber, with potential implications for committee allocations, speaking time and the party's negotiating position in parliamentary business. As an independent, Bland will no longer be counted among Reform's official parliamentary group.

It is not yet clear what long-term effect the move will have on Reform's strategy or on coalition and voting dynamics at Holyrood. Parliament's administrative arrangements will be updated to reflect the new group composition and Bland's status as an independent MSP.
