The British government has committed £100 million in military equipment to strengthen Ukraine’s air defences during the winter months, including supplies of Patriot missiles.
The aid package, announced as a contribution to NATO’s prioritised Ukraine requirements list, also comprises defence interceptors, large‑calibre artillery rounds and drones. The NATO list is used to coordinate and prioritise urgent materiel needs for Ukraine across allied partners.
Officials said the move comes as supplies of Patriot missiles have dwindled amid ongoing Russian attacks, a shortfall that has been flagged as a pressing concern for Kyiv’s ability to contest aerial threats. The inclusion of additional interceptors and drones is intended to help plug gaps in Ukraine’s layered air‑defence network.
The UK’s announcement is the latest in a series of Western contributions aimed at sustaining Ukraine’s military capability through the colder months. By routing the package through NATO’s mechanism, the UK is co‑ordinating its support with allied priorities and seeking to ensure the equipment is delivered where it is most needed.
