Valkyries withstand late rally to beat Dream 67-62, tie WNBA finals 2-2

Gabby Williams scored 17 points and Golden State's defense clamped down late as the Valkyries held off the Atlanta Dream 67-62 on Saturday to even the WNBA finals at 2-2. The best-of-seven series shifts back to California for Monday's pivotal Game 5.

Golden State Valkyries guard Gabby Williams scored a game-high 17 points and the Valkyries' defense stepped up in the closing minutes to secure a 67-62 victory over the Atlanta Dream on Saturday, knotting the WNBA finals at two games apiece.

Golden State built as much as a 16-point advantage in the contest but had to withstand a late Dream rally to preserve the win. The Valkyries tightened defensively down the stretch, limiting Atlanta's scoring opportunities and converting enough possessions to keep the Dream at bay.

Forward Angel Reese, a focal point of Atlanta's attack, was held to eight points as the Valkyries concentrated on containing her production. Despite the Dream's comeback attempt, Golden State was able to close out the game and avoid falling behind in the series.

With the best-of-seven championship tied, the series now moves back to California for Monday's Game 5, a contest that will likely carry increased importance as both teams vie for control of the final. The remaining games will determine which club can build momentum and take a decisive edge in the race for the WNBA title.
